Price: long contracts vs pay per hour
Contabo is known for large amounts of RAM and disk for the money. Its entry Core VPS plan, Cloud VPS 4, has 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM and 100 GB SSD for €5.50 per month. Contabo notes that this is the effective monthly rate for a 24 month subscription including applicable taxes, so shorter terms can cost more.
The DataPasa plan with the same CPU and RAM, VPS-4, has 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM and 128 GB NVMe for $12.16 per month. If you plan to run one server for two years and need the most memory per euro, Contabo is cheaper. If you need a server for days or weeks, hourly billing means you pay only for that time.
Contract terms and cancellation
Contabo sells VPS plans on contract terms. The minimum initial contract length is one month, and the following contract length equals the initial one. Cancellation notice is none for prepaid orders and four weeks for postpaid orders. That model rewards committing in advance and suits servers that will run for a long time.
DataPasa has no contract at all. The first hour is charged at order and then every hour after that. Delete the server and charging stops right away. Used hours are not refunded, but unused balance can be paid back to USDT, USDC or the card you used. This makes testing a stack, running a short campaign or trying a new OS cheap.
Payments and customer verification
Contabo accepts credit cards, PayPal, Skrill, bank transfer and direct debit for EUR accounts, and credit cards and PayPal for USD and GBP accounts. Its help center says cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin are not accepted. Contabo also states it is legally required to verify customer data, and orders under review can require a scan of an ID document or a utility bill.
DataPasa accepts cards through Stripe, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, and crypto through Cryptomus. You sign up with an email and can deploy as soon as your balance is funded. We screen crypto deposits for sanctions and illicit sources, and only a flagged deposit leads to a request for identity verification.
When Contabo is the better choice
Contabo has nine regions and eleven locations across the EU, the UK, the US, Singapore, Japan, India and Australia, which DataPasa cannot match with its single German location. Its Core VPS plans include unlimited traffic under a fair use policy and a snapshot, and its long term prices give a lot of resources for storage heavy or memory hungry workloads.
DataPasa is the better fit when flexibility matters more than the lowest price over two years: servers you create and delete often, projects funded with crypto, faster NVMe storage on small plans, or a sign-up that needs no documents. Choose based on how long the server will live, where your users are and how you want to pay.
