Germany sits in the middle of Europe, so a server in Falkenstein is a short network hop from most European capitals. Germany is also inside the European Union, so personal data you store on the server stays in the EU. If you build products for European users and need to think about GDPR, keeping the data in an EU country is one less question to answer. You remain responsible for how your own application handles that data.
Cheap plans without the usual catch
Low prices often come with long contracts, setup fees or annual prepayment. Here there are none of those. You keep a prepaid balance in US dollars and each server is charged by the hour. VPS-1 at $1.81 a month is enough for a small website, a Telegram bot or a few scheduled scripts, and VPS-2 doubles the RAM for $3.54.
For heavier workloads, VPS-3 gives you 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB NVMe for $7.09, and VPS-4 with 4 vCPU and 8 GB RAM costs $12.16. If you push a lot of traffic, the unmetered n1 plans give guaranteed bandwidth with no monthly cap. All prices shown are final monthly equivalents of the hourly rate.

Operating systems and setup
In the order form you can pick Ubuntu 24.04, 22.04, 20.04 or 18.04, Debian 13 down to 9, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, CentOS or FreeBSD 14 and 13. Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012 R2 to 2022 are available on request through support for plans from VPS-4. You can reinstall the operating system from the control panel at any time.

Hourly billing in practice
Because you pay by the hour, a German VPS is also useful for short jobs. Spin up a server to test how your site performs from Europe, run a batch job, or host a server for a weekend event, then delete it. VPS-3 costs about one cent per hour, so a day of testing costs roughly a quarter of a dollar.
When your balance falls below 30% of the monthly cost of your running servers, we send an email, at most once a day. If it runs out, servers are suspended for 24 hours with data kept, then deleted along with their disks and IP addresses. Support is available by email and tickets during business hours, GMT-3.
