Price for the same CPU and RAM
On the OVHcloud worldwide site, the VPS-1 plan with 2 vCores, 4 GB RAM and 40 GB NVMe costs $5.35 per month without a commitment, or the equivalent of $4.54 per month when you pay 12 months upfront. VPS-2 with 4 vCores and 8 GB RAM costs $10.00 per month, or $8.50 with the yearly payment. Prices on the site are shown before tax.
The DataPasa plans with the same CPU and RAM cost more: VPS-3 is $7.09 and VPS-4 is $12.16 per month, with 64 GB and 128 GB NVMe. Where DataPasa costs less is at the small end. If 1 or 2 GB of RAM is enough, VPS-1 at $1.81 and VPS-2 at $3.54 cost less than any OVHcloud VPS, which starts at 4 GB.
Monthly renewals vs hourly charges
OVHcloud sells VPS plans by the month. You can pay month to month, or commit for a longer period in exchange for a discount. Its documentation says commitments are billed annually and up front only. That model rewards servers you know you will keep for a year, such as a company website, a mail relay or a long running application.
DataPasa bills every server by the hour from a prepaid USD balance. The first hour is charged at order, then each hour in advance. Delete the server and charging stops, with no setup fee and no minimum term. The monthly price you see is 730 hourly charges, so a server you run for three days costs about three days of that price.
Payment methods and account checks
OVHcloud lists Visa, Mastercard and Maestro cards, PayPal and a prepaid account as payment methods on its worldwide site. Cryptocurrency is not on that list. Its order FAQ says a random payment validation process is in place to keep transactions secure and that it may slow down an order. We did not find public rules on ID documents for new VPS customers.
DataPasa takes cards through Stripe, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, and about 100 crypto coin and network pairs through Cryptomus. Sign-up needs only an email. Crypto deposits are screened for sanctions and illicit sources, and only a flagged deposit leads to a request for identity verification. Unused balance can be refunded to USDT, USDC or the card you paid with.
When OVHcloud is the better choice
OVHcloud is a large European cloud provider with a wide product range. Its VPS range runs in data centers in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, the UK, Canada, Singapore, Australia and India, plus Local Zones. Every plan includes unlimited traffic in most regions, a daily backup, anti-DDoS protection and a public bandwidth of up to 3 Gbps. For 4 GB and 8 GB servers you keep for a year, it costs less.
DataPasa is the better fit when you need a small server, want to pay only for the hours you use, fund your account with crypto or sign up without paperwork. It also suits short tests and temporary projects that would waste most of a monthly renewal. You can also use both: OVHcloud for long lived production and DataPasa for flexible, crypto funded workloads.
