Price and plans compared
At the time of our check, the smallest Hetzner Cloud plan listed was CX23 with 2 shared vCPU, 4 GB RAM and 40 GB NVMe from $7.09 per month including a primary IPv4, and it was marked as unavailable. The comparable DataPasa VPS-3 has 2 dedicated vCPU, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB NVMe for $7.09 per month.
At the low end the gap is wider. Hetzner CPX12 with 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM and 40 GB NVMe was listed from $14.09 per month with IPv4, while DataPasa VPS-2 with 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM and 32 GB NVMe costs $3.54. Hetzner prices depend on location and currency, so check their page before you decide.
Billing: prepaid hourly vs invoiced after use
Both providers charge cloud servers by the hour. Hetzner bills after the service is used: servers have an hourly rate and a monthly price cap, and invoices are issued for full calendar months. Its documentation states that you cannot pay in advance. This works well for businesses that prefer a monthly invoice and a card or SEPA mandate on file.
DataPasa works the other way round. You top up a balance from $5, the first hour is charged when you order and every following hour is charged in advance. Delete a server and charging stops. When the balance runs low you get an email, and there is never a bill that arrives after the month is over.
Payment methods and sign-up checks
Hetzner accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and UnionPay cards, SEPA direct debit for EUR accounts, bank transfer and PayPal. Its payment overview says it does not accept cryptocurrencies or wallets such as Apple Pay. To prevent fraud it may ask new customers for a government ID or an advance payment with their own credit card.
DataPasa takes cards through Stripe, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, and about 100 crypto coin and network pairs through Cryptomus. Sign-up needs only an email. Crypto deposits are screened for sanctions and illicit sources, and a flagged deposit can be held until we verify identity. If you stop using the service, unused balance can be refunded to USDT, USDC or the card you paid with.
When Hetzner is the better choice
Hetzner is a large and long established provider. It offers cloud servers in Germany, Finland, the USA and Singapore, plus dedicated servers, domains and a much bigger ecosystem of documentation, tutorials and community guides. If you need several regions, a wide product range or monthly invoicing for a company, Hetzner covers more ground.
DataPasa fits when you want to pay in crypto, skip document checks at sign-up, keep costs predictable with a prepaid balance or run small servers with dedicated vCPU in Germany at a low hourly price. You can also use both: Hetzner for core infrastructure and DataPasa for projects you prefer to fund with crypto.
